Horst, 21 years old, working in Bad Homburg
In 1958 Horst visits his sister Theodora (Thea) in St. Louis Missouri and ends up staying. He is hired on at the St. Louis Sheraton Hotel.
Horst worked on a Greek Cruise Liner traveling around the world 3 times, stopping at many ports of call.

Buffets were very elaborate and decorative in those days, providing opportunities for chefs to showcase their skills learned through the years of schooling and apprenticeship.
Horst purchased his first car in St. Louis and drove to Portland, Oregon to begin work at the new Sheraton Hotel at Lloyd Center as a Sous Chef (his car was a Plymouth Fury).
