Our History
Horst invited 200 senior citizens to a complimentary Christmas dinner at the Rheinlander, picking them up and delivering them home on a bus.
In 1968, and the spring of 1971, Horst took Rheinlander staff on trips to Germany, Ireland, Austria, France and Switzerland.
Employees attending these trips earned money for their plane fare by working at restaurant-sponsored car washes and by recording a two-sided record with a Rheinlander song on side A and a Little Blarney Castle song on Side B.
The restaurant was closed for two weeks in 1968 when the first trip was made.
